FOOD AND DRINK: The Hare And Hounds in Leven has reopened following an extensive Pounds 37,000 investment.

The pub, which is owned by Punch Taverns and run by Tracey Durrant, has undergone substantial redevelopment as part of the pub chain’s Investing For Growth scheme.

The Hare And Hounds now boasts a new look, fresh decor and includes a fully-refurbished tap room and sports bar.

LicenseeTracey, who also cook’s the pubs home-made food, including her famous crumbles, said it was important the pub kept its local identity within the community.

“We have created a great environment for all and that is really paying off with the comments we have received from our customers.”

There are many

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

There are many things that you can do to make the difference between being overweight or not. Based on the way that your lifestyle is there are two big things that you have to concern yourself with, diet and exercise.

Diet is what you eat. We all know that we should not eat food that is bad for us but how about the flip side. How about eating more foods that are better for us. Today at lunch I could have gone out for fast food or I could have stayed in and eaten the soup and fruit that I brought with me.

I wasn?t there to compete

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

I wasn?t there to compete with her. I was simply there to work.

Some of my co-workers carried a sense of entitlement, and they frequently asked really lousy ?victim? questions like these: Why does this always happen to me? When is someone going to give me a break? When are they going to fix this problem? My co-workers never stopped to ask how they might be part of the problem…or part of the solution.

John Miller, author of The Question Behind the Question (QBQ), suggests that this victim mentality comes as a result of asking poor questions. If you have not read this short book, I highly recommend it. I?ll share a story to illustrate some of the powerful points the author makes about QBQ.

A few years ago I received a phone call from an administrative assistant (I?ll call her Carol) who had found my website while doing some online research about how to increase personal productivity.

For example, a banker puts more weight on the business’ liquidity, collateral, and ability to convert assets into cash quickly if the business runs into trouble and a loan is called. The emphasis on these financial measures is different for a venture capitalist whose interest is more on how quickly your business can grow, the potential future cash flow it can generate, and the potential for cashing out at an amount much higher than the initial investment.

4) Present only the numbers and measures most important to your type or types of investors in the body of your business plan. Save the more detailed financial statements for the appendix and due diligence stage. Of course you need detailed financial statements and projections to support your business plan, but don’t think you need to share them with potential investors upfront.

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Want to be an astronaut or a baker or a carpenter? Perhaps you’d prefer to be a chef or a pilot or a successful entrepreneur? Choosing your options is never going to be that easy; what you need is to collate the things you are good at with the things you enjoy doing and then see where that leads you.

When you pull together your achievements

(ok I know thats the hard part so just think about things that you are proud of)

some of them probably took more out of you than others. So although these are often suggested as the best way to start your decision-making, just think a little deeper. You might have enjoyed doing them once but could you, or would you want to keep on doing them.

My wife often says the meals I cook up at home for both of us and sometimes our adult children would go down really well in a restaurant and I could charge top whack. Although I really enjoy cooking like this (I do a really good chili-con-carne) I would not even think about doing it every night for dozens of people.

Let me illustrate this further by taking a square box.

Divide this box into four by drawing a horizontal line across the middle and a vertical line up through the middle.

Because anyone can drive one,

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Because anyone can drive one, regardless of their experience level, go carts have become extremely popular all over the world. They can be found in just about every large city either in family fun centers or other venues.

A go cart is made up of a chassis, motor, transmission, seat and 4 tires and a few other odds and ends. As mentioned earlier they have no suspension. The chassis must provide the stiffness and also enough flexibility to allow the cart to grip the road well on the straightaways as well as in the turns. The chassis can be either open or caged. The caged chassis allows protection for the driver in the event of a rollover while the open chassis does not. The cage performs a similar function as does a roll bar.

Engines used in carting are typically either 2-stroke or 4-stroke. They are made by manufacturers such as Honda or Briggs and Stratton among others.

CRANIO: The Journal of Craniomandibular Practice, July, 2007

SOTO-USA a chiropractic based organization focused on developing interdisciplinary relationships with the field of dentistry for treatment of TMD, and we are preparing for our 8th Annual Clinical Symposium in Nashville October 25-28th, 2007. A whole track of the conference will be for dentists with dental chiropractic cotreatment models, integrating both fields’ treatment of TMD. Chiropractors are looking for dentists with understanding of the TMD to develop working relationships. They are particularly looking for dentists to help with patients suffering from descending components of TMJ dysfunction such as occlusal or condylar position dysfunction. Since some percentage of descending dental influences comprise all patients suffering from TMD, the need for dental cooperative treatment is viewed as essential to most chiropractors at our symposiums.

Developments are also in progress for a Boston interdisciplinary seminar for dentists and chiropractors emphasizing cotreatment models, which will be organized by Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine, The Craniofacial Pain and Headache Center

Nitrogen is the nutrient

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Nitrogen is the nutrient that gives the plant energy to grow. The second number is phosphorus. Phosphorus is needed for root development. The third number of the three is potassium. Potassium, or potash is needed for the translocation of sugar and strong cell development to resist diseases.

When using organic fertilizers, higher amounts are needed since the concentration of nutrients in organics is far lower. For example, a typical organic fertilizer may be only 3% nitrogen, while a commercial fertilizer may be as high as 21% nitrogen. You would need to apply 7 times more organic material to give the plant the same nutrition with the organics. If you do use organic materials, keep in mind that it will take time for the materials to mineralize and be available for plants to uptake these nutrients. But don?t be discouraged by the limitations of using organic material. In most areas of the US, adding organic matter to the soil is always helpful to the soil structure.
